We Have the Power to Impact Our Future, and We’re Doing Something About It
Hispanic and black households face a gap of tens of thousands of dollars between their median incomes compared to those of white and Asian Texans. Nearly 14.7% of Texans live in poverty, according to the latest estimates released by the U.S. Census Bureau. When individuals have meager incomes they lack choices, mobility, opportunities for improvement, and self-esteem. Poverty gives rise to frustration and hopelessness which is visible through destructive behaviors such as drug and alcohol abuse, gang involvement, depression, criminal activity, and even the loss of life. Poverty is teaching Americans that they are not valued, that failure is to be expected, and that hope is futile.
We are here to give disadvantaged children, families, and communities a greater opportunity to realize their true potential by providing a monthly food pantry, GED Testing program, finance and credit restoration, wellness & fitness programs, faith-based activities, and community services that exercise and enhance their mind, body and self-esteem. Our focused staff takes great pride in conveying awesome services of quality that promotes Americans.
